The OPTIMUM Prepaid Mastercard is accepted anywhere that Mastercard is accepted – that’s over 36 million locations worldwide.
Everyone
Anyone can apply and we accept nearly everyone. We do a quick identity check (not a credit check)when you apply. If we confirmed your identity, you’ll be given a full Optimum card. If we have to do further checks we will give you a restricted card, which still allows you to shop in the UK, but has a few restrictions. So you can still get going straight away.
Ease of use
The OPTIMUM card is Contactless so that you can make quick and easy payments by simply tapping your card to a Contactless reader. You can access your cash 24/7, at home or abroad.
You can even have your salary paid onto your card and spend or withdraw from any ATM that accepts Mastercard.

We are legally required to confirm your identity when we receive your application. As long as we can do this, you will receive a card that allows you use all the great stuff Optimum has to offer. If we are not able to fully confirm your identity, you may receive a card that still lets you shop everywhere in the UK, but which has limited functionality.
